- Lehman Brothers - www.lehman.com : founded in 1850 by Henry Lehman,with headquarters in New York. Lehman is known historically as a bond trading house, but in recent years has made great strides in both equities and investment banking.
- Merrill Lynch - www.ml.com : founded in 1914 by Charles E. Merrill, also with headquarters in New York. Merrill is a full service investment bank with a huge asset wealth management division with client assets of over $1.6 trillion. (ML also owns approx 1/2 of Blackrock - BLK)
- Citigroup - www.citigroup.com : a full service bank and investment bank. Basically a tremendous rollup of Citibank, Salomon Brothers, Smith Barney, Schroder among others.
- JP Morgan Chase - www.jpmorgan.com : a full service bank and investment bank created by the merger of the commercial bank of Chase Manhattan Bank and the investment bank of JP Morgan creating a banking bohemoth rivaling Citigroup.
